CURRICULUM

Headway escuela primary section enrolls children from the age of 2 through the first grade. We cultivate the habits of the mind and heart that carry through a lifetime; a curiousity about the world, a desire for learning and confidence in their individual abilities.

An introduction to our primary school experience:

  • Indidualized instruction. With a child teacher ratio of 10 to 1, we meet each child where he is socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually.
  • Hands on learning: children at Hej learn through love and laughter and be it art, music, reading or basic maths, our children genuinely get caught up in the joy of learning.
  • Bright and colourful classrooms and a multipurpose room.
  • Thematic approaches: students discover how all learning is related as they become better readers, writers, thinkers. Everyday they learn more about language arts, social studies, science, art, music and physical education.
  • Parent school link: parents meet up with teachers twice a year, however individual appointments may be scheduled at any time. Parents are kept informed of the childrens' latest doings through newsletters.

Lower and middle school

In our Grades leading from 2 to 7 we focus on developing a strong academic base and sharpening critical thinking skills

Our lower and middle school experience is all about:

  • A rigorous academic curriculum: challenging course work, with stress on good writing and reading abilities.
  • Engagement with the wider world: Students learn about global issues and are given projects and research work which gives them a chance to think beyond the textbook.
  • Extensive learning forums: Science fairs, spelling bees, debates, essay competitions, Painting competitions and drama nights are all widely participative events in our school. Alongwith these our students are an active part of interschool forums such as MUN.
  • Forming a community: In our nurturing environment, students learn respect for others, collaboration and an appreciation for community living. Our character building classes help us to shape our students into better human beings and instill in them a set of good moral values.

Olevels

Our Olevels section is situated in a separate purpose built building on the same campus. Ours is a lively, purposeful but genuinely warm environment where each student is encouraged to challenge themselves and stretch themselves intellectually.

Our team at Headway escuela takes tremendous pride in the straight As and A*s achieved by our first batch of 10th graders. Indeed, the future for the upcoming Olevels classes seems extremely promising. With our hardworking and sincere faculty we guarantee academic success to every student who is prepared to work hard and take advice and guidance from their teachers.

The highlights of our Olevels experience:

  • A dedicated faculty : highly reputable with a years of experience, our teachers put in endless hours to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills which help students to develop intellectually, emotionally and socially.
  • One on one advice: We monitor daily progress, recommend growth strategies and direct students to leadership opportunities. Extra coaching sessions are provided to children who need them.
  • Developing a mature approach: By developing the ability to make reasoned judgements, based on interpretation and evaluation of information from a variety of sources the students develop a mature approach to attempting their o'levels.
  • Honing extra skills: Drama classes teaching dialogue tone and delivery, Debates, Essay Competions and Spelling Bees. We want our students to be all rounders; as was noted in their exceptional performance at the recent Mock United Nations forum.
  • Discipline: In a society where respect and discipline is slowly fading away, we at Headway escuela, strongly believe in a good set of moral values, e.g. honesty, sincerity, personal responsibility. We take pride in the dignified behavior of our students which always gains them praise and respect on various forums they take part in.

"We want our pupils to be self-confident without being arrogant. Exam results matter, which is the nature of the modern world. But our aim is to combine academic rigor with intellectual delight."

Headway Escuela has been a leading primary and secondary education school in twin cities for over a decade now. The institute was rated number 1 in a survey done by NUST in 2007. Promising you a great quality, excellence and nurturing for your little ones.
